Iconic Foxes in Popular Culture

The Fennec is named after the iconic Fennec Fox. This was our inspiration for the restaurant as the Fennec fox is a very social creature that comes out and socializes at night! We believe this matches perfectly with our mission to be a quality social space in the heart of downtown Birmingham! With the Fennec fox in mind, we have compiled a list of a few of our other favorite foxes in popular culture!

Dr. Seuss’ Fox in Socks

The Iconic Dr. Suess loved foxes as much as we do! One of the most fun books by Suess is Fox in Socks. This poem was published in 1965 and is full of fun tongue twisters and our favorite fox wearing blue fuzzy socks! It is a goofy poem but so much fun! Our favorite reminds us of what visiting The Fennec is like:

Fox in socks, our game is done, sir.

Thank you for a lot of fun, sir.

Swiper the Fox

Everyone knows the iconic Swiper the Fox from Dora the Explorer! We think Swiper is crucial in Dora’s journey and we love his sense of adventure! Swiper may be presented as sneaky, but we know Swipe is a good person! He loves puppies and Cowboy cookies! Swiper is a fun and playful character and we love him!

Fantastic Mr. Fox

Wes Anderson directed an iconic film named the Fantastic Mr. Fox! This movie was based on a children’s book but Anderson took it another direction. The moral of this film is to embrace your own personality and individuality while also acknowledging that growth is desirable and necessary. It is a beautiful movie with stunning visuals and phenomenal stop motion!

All these foxes are iconic! At The Fennec we strive to create a welcoming, fun, and, well … iconic space for a meal or a night out. We hope these pop culture foxes will remind you to let out your inner social animal and visit us for lunch, dinner or late night at The Fennec! We look forward to seeing you there.
