Dessert at The Fennec

Our menu at The Fennec is quite delicious. We’ve perfected our entrees, appetizers, and specialty cocktails, but we have become especially proud of our new dessert menu. Each of our desserts are homemade and any of them would sweetly cap off of your dining experience at The Fennec!

We have a spectacular Berry Tartlet that is served in a flakey buttery dough accompanied by house-made whipped cream. This sweet treat leaves a delicious fruity aftertaste in your mouth and ends your meal on a high note.

Our Bourbon Pecan Pie is genuinely one of our favorite ways to end a dinner. It is sweet and savory as hot toasted pecans can be found throughout this sweet treat.

A classic chocolate ice cream dessert is absolutely a fan favorite, and so we decided to add our homemade dark chocolate ice cream to the menu! This serving has a few scoops, served with a wafer cookie and raspberry drizzle.

Last, but definitely not least, the White Chocolate Pot de Creme is stunning. It is a perfect finishing bite and comes served with a spicy cherry compote. We recommend this sugary dessert after any of our hearty meals, as it just sits so well on the stomach!

Come try and of these fantastic and unique desserts at The Fennec!

Healthy Menu Options at the Fennec

Our new menu has an incredible selection of delicious options. These changes include some exciting healthy options. These options are just delectable! If you have a preferred diet, and are looking for a high end meal that allows you to follow that diet- The Fennec has got you covered.

One example of our healthy appetizers is the Kimchi Brussels. These brussels are marinated the day before in a homemade Fennec kimchi brine. These brussels are then sautéed and finished with a kimchi sauce. This opener is fantastic and opens the palette just right!

Our next course comes with multiple different options for salads. We have our own special Fennec salad. The salad is full of tender greens, red onions, cherry tomatoes, pickled veggies, goat cheese, with multiple different options for dressings! This includes an interesting strawberry vinaigrette that is definitely worth trying!

The healthy main course option is our amazing Atlantic Salmon! This entrée is a 7 oz. salmon with a side of rice pilaf and seasonal vegetables. This salmon is prepared the way that you prefer, blackened or grilled. This meal will leave you stuffed and satisfied!

Stop by as soon as you can and try out any of these new options! They were made specifically with our customers in mind who have food preferences, and we’d love to accommodate any of these preferences.

A Toast to Mom: Celebrating on Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is a special occasion that celebrates the important role that mothers play in our lives. It is a day to honor and appreciate the love, care, and sacrifices that our mothers have made for us. Whether it be your biological mom, adopted mom, or maternal figure, there are many reasons why we should celebrate our moms on Mother’s Day.

Mothers are the ones who bring us into the world and nurture us from the moment we are born. They provide us with unconditional love, support, and guidance throughout our lives, and are always there for us in times of need. Mothers also play a vital role in shaping our personalities, values, and beliefs. They are often the first teachers in our lives, and their influence can have a profound impact on our development as individuals.

Mothers make many sacrifices for their children, putting their own needs and desires aside in order to provide for their families. They work hard to ensure that their children have everything they need to succeed in life, from food and shelter to education and emotional support.

Mothers are the backbone of our families and our society. They deserve to be celebrated and honored not just on Mother’s Day, but every day. By taking the time to appreciate and thank our moms for all they do, we can show them how much they are loved and valued, and make them feel truly special and cherished.

The Fennec in downtown Birmingham is hosting a special Mother’s Day brunch, this Sunday, May 14th at 11:00 am. What better way to show your love and appreciation for your mom than by treating her to a delicious brunch? Join* us for a delicious meal and live music to celebrate our moms and make them feel extra special!

Start the fun early and come play Thursday Night Trivia with us! There may even be a category on Cinco de Mayo… here’s a bit of holiday history to give you a leg up on the competition.

Cinco de Mayo is a holiday that commemorates the Mexican Army’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. The battle was fought during the French intervention in Mexico, which lasted from 1861 to 1867. At the time, Mexico was in a state of financial crisis and unable to pay its foreign debts, which led France to invade and establish a monarchy under Maximilian I. The battle was a symbolic victory for Mexico, proving that a poorly equipped and outnumbered army could still win against a world power.

Cinco de Mayo is primarily celebrated in the United States as a day to honor Mexican culture and heritage. The holiday gained popularity in the U.S. during the 1960s, when Chicano activists began to use it as a way to celebrate their Mexican identity and promote civil rights. Today, Cinco de Mayo is celebrated with parades, traditional Mexican music and dance performances, and, of course, delicious Mexican cuisine and drinks.

We hope to see you this weekend at The Fennec!

Chef John’s Top 3 Fennec Favorites

Choosing from a menu filled with a variety of delectable dishes can be a daunting task. Should you choose savory, or spicy, or sweet? Why not just order it all! With so many delicious dishes to choose from, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed about what to pick. To help you with your decision and get your stomach grumbling, we decided to ask our very own Chef John for his top 3 menu favorites.

1. Fried Green Tomatoes
Starting off strong with a tasty appetizer, Chef John’s favorite are the fried green tomatoes. We use local green tomatoes, grilled corn, sautéed onions & peppers with a white wine reduction. The tomatoes are battered with our own herbed dredge, deep fried to perfection & finished with our signature Fennec sauce. This is the perfect start to your meal at The Fennec!

2. Good ‘Ole Hamburger
Taking hamburgers to the next level, our new 6 oz. patty sits atop a homemade brioche bun toasted with our herbed butter magic and topped with your choice of Cheddar, Swiss, American, or Pepper Jack cheese. With fresh lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and onions from an Alabama farmer’s market, you’ll need elbow napkins!

3. Wood Fired Grilled Chicken
In case your mouth isn’t watering enough yet, Chef John’s 3rd favorite menu item is ¼ Peruvian seasoned baked chicken served with homemade mashed potatoes and sautéed seasoned vegetables, topped with a chicken demi-glaze.

With all of these flavorsome dishes, we hope that Chef John’s top picks can offer some insight for your next meal at The Fennec. Who knows—you may just find your new favorite dish! See you soon!

Easter Brunch at The Fennec

Sundays are supposed to be for resting. And here at The Fennec, we think Easter is no different. After your church service or backyard Easter egg hunt, take a break and celebrate with the entire family at The Fennec. The Fennec chefs will be serving a delicious brunch with specialty cocktails. The weather for Easter Sunday in downtown Birmingham is forecasted to be warm and clear, and there’s really nothing like a great brunch and a refreshing mimosa on a beautiful day.

The Fennec will be open from 11am-4pm this upcoming Sunday, with some amazing eats for the entire family! For appetizers, one option  is our gourmet Avocado and Crab toast on a local BHAM Breadworks slice of sourdough. The biscuit plate is also a scrumptious option with an assortment of jams to start out your brunch!

Biscuits and Butter

For entrees, there are many different possibilities. We can serve up some delicious traditional breakfast meals such as the Biscuits and Conecuh Gravy plate, the Fennec Frittata, and the fluffy Fennec pancakes. We also serve a full breakfast plate called The Whole Nine Yards, which comes with two fried eggs, Fennec hash or grits, Conecuh Sausage or bacon and a fresh baked biscuit. Furthermore, we have a delicious Brunch Patty Melt that customers rave about! Our Steak and Egg plate is also filling and mouthwatering.

If you’re still wanting more after your entrees, we have an enormous supply of inviting beignets that you won’t be able to resist! Our Apple Pie may make you reminisce about childhood Easter dinners at Grandma’s house as the aroma of cinnamon wafts from the kitchen, so you might have to indulge in a slice.

Cocktails

And to make that meal just a little bit more enjoyable, our specialty Brunch cocktails list is definitely unique. It’s usually a tough choice, but it always turns out to be worth it. The freshly squeezed mimosas of orange, pineapple, cranberry, white cranberry, or grapefruit are savory and match well with any of our meals. Lisa’s Coffee Negroni may also catch your eye with ingredients of tanqueray, campari, vermouth, cold brew. And there are so many more awesome cocktail options that will be available this Easter.

If any of this sounds delicious to you, stop by The Fennec for Easter Sunday brunch and enjoy any of the wonderful dishes on our menu before heading home for your Easter afternoon nap! We hope to see you soon!
